However, the economic downturn of the late 70s and 80s led to a decreased demand for relatively expensive RVs, and Winnebago fell on hard times. To pivot their business, Winnebago began making smaller models, like the Minnie Winnie that used a Chevy or Ford chassis, smaller profile, and a pop-top.
